Professional chair seat restoration
Splinting
Splint is a flat, woody material cut from the inside of the rattan palm, and used for splint basketry and weaving country style chair seats.
We can replace the existing splint seat on your antique.
Some chairs originally done in rushing or binding can also be replaced with splint. The chairs pictured were originally rushing. We normally use 1/2" flat reed as our splinting material. Flat reed comes in a natural, or smoked finish.
